Beneath the veneer, however, lurks something far darker. Here are three reasons why we shouldn’t use Kijiji.
Value vs. Price
You get what you pay for. If you’re looking to put little effort into looking and taking what’s available, then there are too many puppies to count. If you are discerning and want to find a quality companion, then scroll on by. Puppies aren’t a superior deal on Kijiji, they’re cheap. And like electronics or food, cheap lacks quality.
Ethical breeding won’t cross that line
Ethical breeding is about the betterment of the breed, something Kijiji sellers don’t care about.
It isn’t that ethical breeders shy away from Kijiji, you won’t find any. Selling a puppy is more than a few quick lines in an ad. It takes time to build an audience, and over time, pet owners return to the same breeder because of what the breeder is breeding for; consistency.
Legitimacy
Kijiji is the home of the puppy mill. Litter after litter is dumped onto Kijiji in an attempt to get a quick sale so the sellers can get onto the next sale. By supporting the venue, buyers are not only accepting the practice of unethical breeding but encouraging it. Instead, reach out to an ethical breeder and ask questions.
